Traveling London on the Tube is extremely efficient and quite easy to do. Get a hold of a London Underground map as soon as you arrive and begin familiarizing yourself with where you are staying and where you want to go. You’ll easily find that most places in London are accessible directly or are just a short walk away from a Tube station.

The Classic Black London Taxicab
These days you’ll see them in just about every color of the rainbow, but the vast majority of them still tend to be black. A ride in a classic-style London taxicab is a truly enjoyable experience and is something that every first-time visitor should enjoy.

Collectively referred to as “black cabs,” regardless of color, be aware they are not the cheapest way to get around the city. So, unless Daddy Warbucks is sponsoring your visit, it might be a good thing to try a cab once or twice, but not every time you need to get from point A to point B. Black cabs can be hailed as needed, or you can usually find a line of them waiting at one of the many cab stands in the city of London.

Even though 19th century British Prime Minister William Gladstone was referring to double-deck horse drawn omnibus carriages when he said, “The way to see London is from the top of a bus,” he definitely had a point. A double-decker is a great, inexpensive choice for short distance London travel, as taking the Tube often calls for more time.

Travel Agent Jobs – Mixing Pleasure With Expertise

Sometimes, people who are unfamiliar with the travel business seem to have the impression that travel agent jobs simply involve searching through holiday availability on a computer. In fact, it is significantly more complicated than that, and also a lot more demanding.

The pleasure

One of the things that a potential client looks for in a travel agent is a sense that the people they are dealing with enjoy their work and enjoy everything to do with travel. People travel for many different reasons and not all of them are to do with holidays – for example, business travellers.

Just a sample of travel requirements might include:

• Travel and accommodation;

• Accommodation only;

• Travel only;

• Advice and guidance on local currencies and exchange rates etc;

• Recommendations relating to local customs and cultures at destination;

• Help with connections at the point of arrival.

When a client requires help in any of the above areas (and there are many others), what they expect from their service is the help of an agent who enjoys everything to do with the subject, and is capable of providing the solutions. Little is more potentially off-putting to a client than a travel agent who appears disinterested. Therefore, travel agent jobs typically demand a high-level of enthusiasm and a genuine interest in the above domains.

Expertise

Having enthusiasm and interest is highly desirable but, alone, they will not necessarily guarantee success in travel agent jobs. That enthusiasm has to be blended into a knowledge base that means a client can see immediately that they are dealing with someone who is either an expert in the field, or very knowledgeable and capable of finding the answers when required.
If you think this is easy, you are mistaken!

A client walking through the door, or on the telephone, will expect you to be able to help them with any aspect of travel and related areas, involving them going to or coming from, just about anywhere in the world. Of course, no individual could possibly know the answers to every potential question that may arise. That is why understanding the totality of the travel, accommodation and leisure businesses, is critically important.

Frequently, a client’s requirements may involve you understanding how different components of this total business (e.g. hotel accommodation, train connections and flights) interact with each other. There is a global range of processes and systems that allow knowledgeable travel agents to find optimal solutions to their clients’ needs.

Learning how this works, and mastering it, so that you can deliver superb solutions to your clients, takes time. Blending that expertise with your own basic interest and enthusiasm will help make you a success in the travel business. So if that sounds like you, then travel agent jobs may be just what you’re cut out for.

Accommodation For Long Term Business Trips

With the economy in the position it’s in, many companies are forced to spread their wings and seek out opportunities in developing countries. Not only are some finding great opportunities, they are actually growing faster than ever before. The downside is that employees are being forced to work abroad – often for long periods of time. Although this might sound exciting at first, the reality is that they will be away from their families for extended periods of time. It can get lonely, depressing and uncomfortable.

Accommodation is a big deal. Some countries also have safety concerns and the developing world can be a different kettle of fish altogether. This is where recognized hotels are important options. Staying in a Hilton or a Radisson will give you that added peace of mind – even though it might be more expensive.

Comfort becomes an issue if you have to be in any one place for more than 2 or 3 weeks. A standard hotel room is small, cramped and offers little more than a place to sleep. Corporate apartments offer a great alternative and these are basically fully furnished apartments that cater for business travelers. They are serviced daily and are usually in great locations that it both convenient and safe. Places like Dubai and India now have a great selection of corporate apartments.

Hotels don’t need to be hotels also. Long Stay hotels are unique in that they are much more spacious and aims to bring together the best of both worlds. It has the convenience of a hotel but the space and feel of an apartment. Plus it gives you that peace of mind that you get from sticking to a recognized hotel group.

Prices vary greatly from city to city but for the most part corporate apartments are cheaper. It does take a lot more planning though and does not offer the conveniences and security you get from a hotel. When it comes to long stay accommodation price should not be the determining factor. Take into account just how stressful and demanding it can be on anyone being away from home for that long.
