Flying to London was the easy part. Now you’re there, standing outside of the airport, watching cars driving on the wrong (or right?) side of the road, trying to figure out how you’re going to be able to navigate this massive city. It’s all right, calm down. Here are some tips for making travel in and around the city on your London vacation a real piece of cake.

Traveling London on the Tube is extremely efficient and quite easy to do. Get a hold of a London Underground map as soon as you arrive and begin familiarizing yourself with where you are staying and where you want to go. You’ll easily find that most places in London are accessible directly or are just a short walk away from a Tube station.

The Classic Black London Taxicab
These days you’ll see them in just about every color of the rainbow, but the vast majority of them still tend to be black. A ride in a classic-style London taxicab is a truly enjoyable experience and is something that every first-time visitor should enjoy.

Collectively referred to as “black cabs,” regardless of color, be aware they are not the cheapest way to get around the city. So, unless Daddy Warbucks is sponsoring your visit, it might be a good thing to try a cab once or twice, but not every time you need to get from point A to point B. Black cabs can be hailed as needed, or you can usually find a line of them waiting at one of the many cab stands in the city of London.

Travel London on a Double-Decker Bus
Even though 19th century British Prime Minister William Gladstone was referring to double-deck horse drawn omnibus carriages when he said, “The way to see London is from the top of a bus,” he definitely had a point. A double-decker is a great, inexpensive choice for short distance London travel, as taking the Tube often calls for more time.

Keep in mind that there are other types of buses and London tours as well, so no matter where you’re off to, there’s a great selection of London public transportation options that will get you there!

Mombasa Hotels, North Coast Mombasa

Whether you’re looking to travel to Mombasa, Kenya for some well deserved rest and relaxation or simply for business, the accommodation options in the North Coast are ample and cater for all pocket sizes.

For the hedonistic traveller, there are a number of four and five star beach resorts that line the North Coast of Mombasa, some of which offer an all-inclusive deal for their guests. Located on wide stretches of palm fringed, powdery white sandy beaches, these resorts have an atmosphere reminiscent of Swahili culture. With air-conditioned, beautifully designed deluxe suites and standard rooms either facing the sea or lush gardens, these luxurious hotels have a wide selection of well equipped rooms to choose from. The rooms also generally are equipped with satellite TV, mini bars and a safe. There are also conference facilities available for those who are in Mombasa on business.

Most beach resorts have more than one pool and a choice of bars and restaurants that are open throughout the day. Entertainment is provided by local bands and traditional dancers while you enjoy your dinner. Hotels such as the Sarova Whitesands and Serena Beach Hotels have in-house health and beauty spas which offer a variety of treatments to help you relax and rejuvenate. There are also gyms, tennis and squash courts, yoga and aerobics classes available on the hotel grounds. For those travelling with children, there are children’s clubs and activities organized to help keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy your sporting activities.

If you’re not fussed about expensive Egyptian cotton sheets and Italian tiled bathrooms and are looking for a more homely environment away from the crowds, there are self-catering, fully equipped beach cottages available in Mombasa. In most cases, you can hire a cook cum cleaner at a negotiable, reasonable rate. These are ideal for groups of people or families travelling together.

For those looking to escape the beach culture, Mombasa has a number of hotels located in the heart of town such as the colonial style Castle Royal Hotel located just ten minutes from Mombasa’s Old Town and the tourist hot-spot Fort Jesus. Furnished and self catered apartments such as the elegant Tamarind Village Apartments are ideal for business travellers looking for a quiet environment or if you’re planning to be in Mombasa for a longer period.

Travel Agent Jobs – Mixing Pleasure With Expertise

Sometimes, people who are unfamiliar with the travel business seem to have the impression that travel agent jobs simply involve searching through holiday availability on a computer. In fact, it is significantly more complicated than that, and also a lot more demanding.

The pleasure

One of the things that a potential client looks for in a travel agent is a sense that the people they are dealing with enjoy their work and enjoy everything to do with travel. People travel for many different reasons and not all of them are to do with holidays – for example, business travellers.

Just a sample of travel requirements might include:

• Travel and accommodation;

• Accommodation only;

• Travel only;

• Advice and guidance on local currencies and exchange rates etc;

• Recommendations relating to local customs and cultures at destination;

• Help with connections at the point of arrival.

When a client requires help in any of the above areas (and there are many others), what they expect from their service is the help of an agent who enjoys everything to do with the subject, and is capable of providing the solutions. Little is more potentially off-putting to a client than a travel agent who appears disinterested. Therefore, travel agent jobs typically demand a high-level of enthusiasm and a genuine interest in the above domains.

Expertise

Having enthusiasm and interest is highly desirable but, alone, they will not necessarily guarantee success in travel agent jobs. That enthusiasm has to be blended into a knowledge base that means a client can see immediately that they are dealing with someone who is either an expert in the field, or very knowledgeable and capable of finding the answers when required.
If you think this is easy, you are mistaken!

A client walking through the door, or on the telephone, will expect you to be able to help them with any aspect of travel and related areas, involving them going to or coming from, just about anywhere in the world. Of course, no individual could possibly know the answers to every potential question that may arise. That is why understanding the totality of the travel, accommodation and leisure businesses, is critically important.

Frequently, a client’s requirements may involve you understanding how different components of this total business (e.g. hotel accommodation, train connections and flights) interact with each other. There is a global range of processes and systems that allow knowledgeable travel agents to find optimal solutions to their clients’ needs.

Learning how this works, and mastering it, so that you can deliver superb solutions to your clients, takes time. Blending that expertise with your own basic interest and enthusiasm will help make you a success in the travel business. So if that sounds like you, then travel agent jobs may be just what you’re cut out for.

Australian Accommodation For All Lifestyles

Whether you are a thrill seeker searching for your next adrenaline rush or honeymooners looking for a romantic getaway, you will be sure to find suitable accommodation within Australia.

The Australian travel industry can be divided into key categories most travelers can identify with. These categories include:

Sporting and leisure holidays:
Many resorts within Australia offer various sporting and
leisure activities. The Whitsundays, a popular resort area in Queensland, has many resorts built around golf courses and including daily activities such as sailing, jetskiing, kayaking, bushwalking and beach volleyball.

In winter the most popular sporting holiday is a trip to the snow. In Australia, both New South Wales and Victoria have many exciting ski fields that would challenge even the best skier. These ski resorts offer early-bird packages, which include accommodation, equipment hire and ski lift passes, thus making a trip to the snow not only enjoyable but very affordable.

Gourmet Experience:
Australia has some of the finest food in the world available in one place. The country is very proud of its multicultural society and the diversity of food and beverage this provides. Melbourne is alive with late-night Italian eateries in famous Lygon Street. Sydney and Perth are well-known for producing delicious seafood and world-famous chefs. And Darwin offers a unique gourmet experience with many restaurants offering a delicious fusion of exotic Asian and Australian flavours.

For those seeking wines, Australia has a very active wine growing industry and many tours that take travelers through some of the world’s most beautiful wine growing regions. Those regions highly recommended include South Australia’s Barossa Valley, The NSW Hunter Valley, Victoria’s Murray Darling and Western Australia’s Margaret River.

Arts and History
Given its colonial history, it is no surprise that Australia offers many interesting historical sites and, travel packages allowing people to see them. Some off these sites date back millions of years. Travelers are recommended to see the Northern Territory and Western Australia; both states feature wonderful land formations and aboriginal artwork from the earliest times of human habitation.

Closer to the city, all Australian cities feature world-class art galleries and exciting ghost tours
through some of Australia’s oldest buildings – many previously use during convict times.

Kid Friendly
There are many packages available for those traveling with children in Australia. These include
accommodation with kid-friendly facilities such as monitored swimming pools, games rooms and playgrounds and kids playgroups. Also, many packages include tickets to attractions geared towards children such as one of the many zoos in Australia, the Sydney Aquarium or the many theme parks on the Gold Coast.

Self Drive
Driving is a great way to discover Australia. Many scenic towns and attractions are easily accessed by car, as Australia has an extensive network of excellent roads and freeways. In many cases the road itself is the scenic attraction such as The Great Ocean Road – a beautiful scenic ocean drive along the bottom part of Australia.

You will find a variety of quality, inexpensive motels to stay in along the way.

Enjoy your trip!

Accommodation For Long Term Business Trips

With the economy in the position it’s in, many companies are forced to spread their wings and seek out opportunities in developing countries. Not only are some finding great opportunities, they are actually growing faster than ever before. The downside is that employees are being forced to work abroad – often for long periods of time. Although this might sound exciting at first, the reality is that they will be away from their families for extended periods of time. It can get lonely, depressing and uncomfortable.

Accommodation is a big deal. Some countries also have safety concerns and the developing world can be a different kettle of fish altogether. This is where recognized hotels are important options. Staying in a Hilton or a Radisson will give you that added peace of mind – even though it might be more expensive.

Comfort becomes an issue if you have to be in any one place for more than 2 or 3 weeks. A standard hotel room is small, cramped and offers little more than a place to sleep. Corporate apartments offer a great alternative and these are basically fully furnished apartments that cater for business travelers. They are serviced daily and are usually in great locations that it both convenient and safe. Places like Dubai and India now have a great selection of corporate apartments.

Hotels don’t need to be hotels also. Long Stay hotels are unique in that they are much more spacious and aims to bring together the best of both worlds. It has the convenience of a hotel but the space and feel of an apartment. Plus it gives you that peace of mind that you get from sticking to a recognized hotel group.

Prices vary greatly from city to city but for the most part corporate apartments are cheaper. It does take a lot more planning though and does not offer the conveniences and security you get from a hotel. When it comes to long stay accommodation price should not be the determining factor. Take into account just how stressful and demanding it can be on anyone being away from home for that long.
